Piezoelectric Energy
Harnessing the potential of Piezoelectric Energy presents an exciting set of opportunities and challenges. When a force is imposed on a Piezoelectric material, the pressure effect squeezes the crystalline structure and this results in the piezo crystal emitting charge.
The Piezoelectric effect may also be harnessed with the use of dielectric elastomere generators & dielectric fluids generators.

The field of Piezoelectric encompasses the capture of energy from kinetic compression or pressure as well as all types of physical vibration including sound waves or Sound Pressure Level (SPL) measured in Decibels.

The collection of Piezoelectric Energy is typically performed with the use of a solid state device such as a sensor or switch that converts the energy directly into an electrical charge. In some cases the use of an oscillating diaphragm may assist to focus or amplify the waves.
Sound, vibration or pressure may also be harnessed via Electromagnetic Field Induction.

One of the current challenges is how to amplify the total charge force beyond the nano or micro levels into meaningful power volumes. Also the management of accumulated charges in capacitors or batteries for stored usage at a future time.

Triboelectric Energy
Harvesting the charge or static electricity that is generated from the physical friction or contact motion between the surface of two materials is the basis of Triboelectric Energy. The collection of Triboelectric Energy is typically performed with the use of a solid state device such as a sensor or switch that converts the energy directly into an electrical charge.

Electrostatic induction or Triboelectric devices may be ideal for self powered sensors and switches and are well suited and may be designed to capture human, mechanical or natural motion.

One of the current challenges is how to amplify the total charge force beyond the nano or micro levels into meaningful power volumes. The use cases for Triboelectric Energy remain largely unexplored as we are still relatively early in the evolution of the internet of things. Electrostatic Separation, used to separate particles may be one way to harvest energy from the electrostatic field that is created.

The development of new and novel applications seem somewhat limitless at this point in time, as we ponder the potential that remains untapped. As the technology matures a standardized framework for the pathway for the development of Triboelectricity will become focused.
Some applications currently being pursued include methods to harness the energy of surface motion on water with floating ball nets, Fluttering Windstream fringes and wind chime devices.

Electromagnetic Field Induction
Traditionally the generation of electricity has largely been focused around high torque rotation of magnet/coil configuration around a central axle. As the world moves towards harvesting, scavenging and the recovery of energy a refreshed look at the methods of Induction may be required.
An new opportunity for the exploitation of the Linear induction generator may be upon us.
The possibility of the potential of Low torque generation at the rim and/or harvesting osculating membrane vibration also needs to entertained. Generating Electromagnetic Field Induction to directly produce electricity without intermediate conversion steps, may be an efficient method of energy recovery harvesting.

Magneto Hydro Dynamics (MHD)
Magneto Hydro Dynamics or MHD refers to the movement of a conductive material across a magnetic field that induces a charge flow.
The flow of ionic fluids through a Magneto Hydro Dynamic column may generate an extractable electric current. An MHD harvest device may be considered as a solid state, direct to electricity Electrochemical Cell apparatus and once installed may passively generate power.
The strategic location of a Magneto Hydro Dynamic module in a liquid or gas transport pathway is a desirable energy harvesting practice.
